Apr. 26th, 2005 08:50 amBlink and you may have missed it, But in four weeks (depending on window) Discovery finally goes back into orbit and the Shuttle fleet (what there is of it) goes back into active duty and restarts/continues work on the ISS.
It worries me that some people dont think this is important. Its not the fan in me speaking here. I really believe that at some point in the future (I dont mean the near future) man getting off this planet may be the only way to ensure our survival as a species.
That point may be a long way away but first steps are important.
The fact that we have had the capability to put a man on mars for almost 30 years yet have not done it is just wrong. We should reach out (and for far more noble reasons than the apollo program was built for) and embace what we can.
Anyway - Check out www.nasa.gov and look at the return to flight stuff. Its a great site (if a little dry in places) and the hubble photos are simply a joy.
