Well, I've just been sent 39 DVD's containing every episode of Family Ties.

180 episodes - I didnt realise it ran for so long. I got them off a friend in the US who ripped them straight from Tivo to disc for me.

Why ? I have to be honest I've always had a soft spot for the show when it ran on C4 many years back - Its one of the few 80's US comedies that wasn't completely terrible.

For those that don't know it was what made Michael J Fox a house holdname in the US - even though it was originally conceived as a show for Micheal Gross and Meredeth Baxter Birney - Fox's Alex became the centre of attention rapidily and the show began to focus on him.

I like it - Its a bit cheesey and has moments of overt sentimentality coupled with bouts of preaching about the usual 80's issues, but it also addressed issues that other us family comedy shows up to that point hadn't -including alcholism, child abuse and molestation and other subjects that had been previously taboo - It rose to be the number 2 show to the Cosby Show (which I alsways found over rated - but thats me.

Anyway - Thats gonna take me a while to get through.

I also booked Stalls Tickets for War Of The Worlds live at the Albert Hall next April.

It's the first time Wayne has take the show live. Looking forward to it
