.. are useless at supporting new technology with their own shows ....

OK - SO ..

Planet Earth - Reet and I watched the five or six episodes of this we managed to catch on the BBC HD trial...

Now this program really really needs to be seen in HD - Trust me - if you have an HD system and can get an episode or two on your Sky HD+ this is the show to show people and make them go 'I didn't realise how much difference there was between HD and normal TV' seriously - it looks absolutely stunning ...

Anyway - I digress ...

BBC being crap was what I was talking about ...

I happened to notice on amazon.COM that they (the BBC) are releasing PE on HD-DVD and Blu-Ray on April 24th, Yay, I thought, It must be out here first. Nope. Nada. Dispite the fact its the BBC (yes that was still BRITISH broadcasting company last time i checked) there's no scheduled date for the UK. So i called the BBC shop. 'No - No date - we don't know why. We have been told to tell people to order from the US as it will be much quicker and also much cheaper'

This is stupid - there's suddanly a huge market for HD content in the UK (PS3 and Xboxs can play them) and even the BBC are draging their heals (don't get me started on the fact they broadcast Robin Hood and Torchwood on the BBC trial channel and not Doctor Who - even though its been shot in HD).

So - I've ordered the HD DVD version from the US (The blu ray ones are region coded - and as far as I know theres no way to deregion code a uk PS3 - yet. feel free to tell me otherwise. - If you didnt know HD-DVD's currently arent region coded or HDCP locked so the Xbox 360 with the HD DVD addon will happily play US HD DVD's).

Its just annoying thats all.
