To make an update or post today. But I think the flight yesterday/Thursday (confusing time zone hop from Fan San) has caused a shifting of fluids in my my head (flying was possibly the initial trigger) and I feel crap - the worse I have since last Sunday.

So I'll just say I'm back. I still have 3 or 4 days antibiotics to take and feel a little poorly. AB's wiping me out and the vicadin is doing very odd things with my brain/thought processess/imagination.

The main issue has been a build up of fluids in my e/n/t passages which caused an absess in my neck just aboove my spine which worried them a lot and meant I also could not move - they wanted to operate to drain it then and their, but my obvious relucantance held them back and they used 3 doeses of steroids and some AB's which brought the swelling down and reduced the build up. I had two CT scans in the giant donought thing over 3 days and the second showed that the drugs had done the job. They reluctantly let me out tuesday afternoon - I suspect that if I had been resident in the US 1. They would have done the op (so i'm going to get a docs opinion here to check its ok) and 2. Would not have let me out yet.

They were great - I will say that. They looked after me wonderfully (there were a couple of moments frustration and tears - but that was more due to me being tense and afraid and unable to move anything then anything else). My pulse rate when i was admitted was 150 + and this unsuprisingly worried them. They put me (and left me in) Intensive care and Telemetry which meant constant supervision and electrodes wired to various parts of me. The pulse rate thing I think is what worried them most as it stayed 140 + for 3 days and didn't really drop to anything close to normal till monday afternoon. Never did work out why it was so high - there was lots of pain but treating that didn't bring it down so they just kept an eye on me. By tuesday most of the drugs and stuff had done their job and my pulse was back to a more stable 80 + (still high but not scariy so). They only let me out so we could get home - they strongly hinted that they would like to have kept me another week - but we had to get back for Reet's job and sanities sake - I can always get admitted here if needed.

So today. My heads feeling a little sore - swollen slightky at the back - but i suspect thats more due to yestereday's flying. I'm going to take it easy - keep vaguely horisontal and drink tea (god - I missed tea. US People - Put some presure on get some tea imported that tastes like tea !!!) I have three more days of AB's to take and some painkillers to cover that time...

Thanks for all the good wishes ....
