Local Elections tomorrow...

Its all tosh anyway. Ours is a local council thing and to be honest every candidate is as much of a wanker as any of the others. There is nothing any of them have to say i agree with.

I'm way past caring.

Sure - in a true democracy then every person has a duty to vote - but when every candidate is a complete dick then theres no point ...

We don't really live in a democracy anyway - it more of a slightly modified republic at best ...

Republic and democracy aren't orthogonal. We have democratically elected representatives. And in the local elections, the democratic process is more direct than national elections.

If totally stumped, vote for the guy who's going to get least votes. He may be abel to keep his deposit as a result.

Well, they appear to be trying new tactics where I live to get the votes .... I've been sent two ballot notices!

My usual tactic in locals of voting Green (good at local level even if they wouldn't know what to do at national) was thwarted by there not being a Green candidate. Bah. Had to make quick substitute decision - could have done with knowing the demographic/balance of power more the way I did back in Ayles, so I'd've known whether it was worth trying to tactical vote or just go with personal best preference ;-(
