This was pointed out in the BBC News report today. Apparently, a lot of the people in the queue in London for the iPhone were planning to hack the system so they didn't have to use O2. Not sure if this will allow 3G access. Apple warn it'll invalidate their warranty and they won't be able to download upgrades. Gadget freaks seem not to care.
Of course, I would have rushed out to get the iPhone if I didn't something better to do with 260 pounds... if I had 260 pounds in the first place, that is.
