Now the quandry - I can't decide which way to put my absolutes on the shelf - box forward or spine forward

Box forward.
*envy* for the Gaiman Death.

{envy} Wish I could afford those (bookends and books) - might be able to get them all in the old form at some point!

I'd go with the first/third versions (not sure which it is) - much more elegant and bookshelfy, less comicy!

Forbiden Planet are selling them at £44 which is not much over £2 per comic, and hard to beat.

I'd say £8 average per old graphic novel volume beats it (about half the price). I know it's a whole different league for quality (on all counts), but I can't justify nearly a quarter of my monthly take home pay on four books!

I have to think twice before buying a full price DVD :(

Spine Forward, they are really lovely spines, like really, especially compared to say Watchmen or LOEG the only ones I have, which are no where near as ornate.

Me, I'd have the spines facing out - they're lovely.

And the bookends are brilliant. I just went in search of them, though, and wow, definitely not cheap!
