There's an interesting (to me) piece of maths in a recent Register article. Al Gore and Richard Branson are sponsoring a $25 million prize to reduce the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere by 1 billion tons per year. But human breath (implies the article) generates 1.9 Gigatons (ie. 2 billion tons, once you've cross checked the scaling references) of CO2 per year.

But all of that ultimately comes from the atmosphere in the first place. Of course, if you go back far enough, so do coal and oil.
