For a while ...

Towards the end of last Year I aquired the 'Absolute' versions of Watchmen and Sandman (vol 1)...

My god these are beautiful - The Watchman is completely remastered line art and recoloured and the first 18 issues of Sandman (Sandman is coming out in four volumes - vol 1 has issues 1 -20 in) have been recoloured. The books also have nice leather covers and the paper (and print) is larger than normal on a glossy 8x12 stock...

I recommend these to - well anyone. Essential reading in their ultimate format ...

Dig around online a bit and you can pick them up at good prices ....

Did they correct the atrocious inking in A Game of You? (which, incidentally, also contains some of the best artwork in the series...)

They are not that far yet - But all the line art for the absolutes has been digitally remastered - plus the new paper stock makes a hell of a difference ... And seeing it larger is very nice.

Volume one is basically Preludes and Nocturnes, The Dolls House and Dream Country. Issues 1 -18 have been completely recoloured - aparently Neil was never happy how they turned out - something to do with the paper stock used for the first 18 issues ..

As you can pick it up for around 40 ish quid its not that much more than the 3 soft covers combined - and it really is very pretty - eIts a lovely leather cover with some nice spine detailing - of course its quite big fro your average book shelf ...
