It's 'Highlander' meets 'Forever Knight' ...

A few intriguing moments in the first four episodes and so far doesn't suck ... But still firmly in the 'Immortal with tortured soul becomes a homicide detective' mould ...

You'd think living that long you could think of something better to do with your time.

Last night's showed that quite definately with age does not come wisdom, at least for John. He was behaving like a naive cretin when he was already over 150. You would have thought he'd have been more sensible by then and had a better grasp of how things work.

Not sure this is much of a thank you from the natives either.

I agree about the 'Thank you' but i got that feeling right from episode 1 .. It certainly came over as more of a curse ...

I watched the first 3 episodes of New Amsterdam and enjoyed them. However, they did not create as much excitement for me as the "Highlander" or "The Man From Earth" movies. Still I expect that the story is still being developed and could become quite fascinating as the series plays out.

Now, a story about a real immortal would create more excitement.
