The thing is it's been done. We have had Survivors in the 70's, Stephen Kings 'Stand' which he has openly said owed a lot to the show, the movies - 28 Days/Months later and of course the Adaptation of The Stand for TV.

Given this is a retelling of Abby's story (at a guess from the blurb) will it bring anything New?

At least they're up front about it being a "re-imagining", not pretending it's original. There could be some new twists at the beginning - how long would the cell network last? and there are all the pandemic procedures that large organisations have in place, it would be interesting to have a look at them and see how they'll work.

And the original was so great (I was only young when it was first aired but remember it vividly). Have they repeated it recently on any of the BBC or satellite channels? I cannot remember ever spotting it.

Used to be on very early in the morning on uk gold a few years ago. Haven't seen it for a while though...When I watched it again (I loved it when it first came out...) I was somewhat shocked by the accents of the actors.. all very bbc :) and I had forgotten how annoying the kids were...

The original was pretty much Abbey's story from the opening.

The problem with Survivors is it a rather depressing series, on the whole, and I can't see how it can be made enjoyable for a today's audience. Maybe they'll surprise me.
