... about Star Trek.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/entertainment/7722407.stm

Looks like they are saying Pike was first captain .. Poor old Robert, he always gets overlooked ...

I'm looking forward to the movie. Big Time. Its hard say which i'm lookimg forward to more, this or Watchmen, though given Classic Trek is my first and true fandom this probably has the edge. At least they are a couple of months apart and not up against each other (though I suspect HP:HBP is going to cut into the cake).

The three mains have got the looks down spot on as far as I can tell from the pics i've seen (Quinto is just uncany as Spock), hopefully the Trailer will hit the net soon (if it hasn't already).

Just hate having to wait untill next year ...

**EDIT - It seems Weapon X (or 'X Men Origins: Wolverine' as it now seems to be called) opens the week before and Brown's 'Angels & Demons' the week after. I really hope the movie's a hit. We need some new good Trek, as I suspect its the franchise's last chance - it's certainly the last chance to prove it's worth the cost of releasing the Movies and rest of the HD restores on Blu Ray...

Of course, April was only mentioned in the Animated series, and since the Animated is officially non-canon (with one exception)... But I agree, it would have been nice to see him get a mention, especially as Okuda used Roddenberry for his photo in the Encyclopedia.

With you on looking forward to the movie - although I'm a little concerned at the released photo's total redecorations of the Enterprise's interior (something approaching the TOS style would have been nice - and I could have coped with more greeblies to match modern sensibilities). Watchmen has the potential to be fun as well.

I didn't realised they'd started the Wolverine movie yet, let alone finished it! I saw the trailer for A&D last week before Quantum of Solace - I knew what it was for before we even saw any of the main characters? I don't remember much (it's one of the worst books I ever read), but it seems to me that giving the main plot (which I recall was a late reveal in the book) in the trailer is going to ruin it for some!

The cannon/not cannon thing is a beast with ST. The writers have said they are treating Spocks World and Prime Directive as cannon and I believe, but, and I will have to go back and re reread to be sure, April is mentioned in Prime Directive (as well as others, it's pretty established that Kirk's father served with April on the Enterprise at some point). It's not a big deal but does seem to be an odd thing to have ignored, but i'll hand wave it like everything else as I don't really care - just nit picking :)

Ah, last I heard, none of the novels counted - but that was a few years ago.
