Ok ... Suddenly everywhere is announcing 00:01 showings of Watchmen, they have just gone up at Wimbledon Imax as well (loads of seats FYI)...

I'm torn in two over this, but there is no way I can get Thursday off and it's not a film i want to see tired ...

On the otherhand it's Watchmen ....

Is on Nudity and poses the idea that shame about nudity is a learned thing rather than in built ...

No shit Sherlock !!! Of course its learned - it why kids generally shed their clothes at every opportunity until there embarassed parents tell them off for it...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/magazine/7915369.stm

The program does sound interesting from a naturists point of view... I have no hang ups about showing my wayyyy less than perfect body (much to many's distress ;) - you know who you are Flist :) ) and the experiment sounds like fun .. one for Tivo I think...

*ETA* You have to love the use of the term 'inapproprate excitement' in the article. Anyway - when nudity is common place - such as in camps and resorts the problem goes away.)

Is there a way of getting your incoming tweets sms'ed to your mobile in the UK the way it works in the US ? I didn't realise it didn't do this here, as as that was the main attraction (I really dont need another page on the web to wade through) I was wondering how it can be done here ?

SO pretty much loved so far ..

Excellent reviews from the Times, Empire Magazine, Total Film and many others ....

Oh .. The News of the World didn't like it ...

Ahem .. Why am I not suprised, perhaps if Jade Goody had been in it they would have enjoyed it ?

(Cross posted with my Redemption-Con)

In the Friday panel people were asking what certificate the Watchmen movie has.

I can confirm now that it has an '18' as I thought - The main reason for the certificate was a scene with a meat clever (which can safely be assumed to be the Rorsharch orgin segment), aparently it could have had a 15 without that and few other (short) cuts but the studio is OK with the 18 and the film is being released uncut, which pleases me and pretty much most fans (except the ones under 18).

Great post from a 16 year old (which oddly is how old I would have been if the movie had been released when the comic came out)on the watchmencomicmovie.com forums...

"An 18?

On one hand, Watchmen can only really do justice in all of its adult glory. Having a watered down version just wouldn't be the same, and we wouldn't get the true ferocity of both the Comedian and Vedit's actions (Those are the ones that have the most visual impact, in my opinion).

On the other hand...

Bollocks.

Just bollocks. I'm going to sit in a corner now, if you'll excuse me."....

It made me smile anyway - you have to feel for her ...

We have just booked our Watchmen tickets ...

We are going to the new Digital Imax screen in Wimbledon as all the good tickets at the Waterloo iMax are long gone - plus we have obvious acessibilty issues with Gaspodia's foot - which we don't have at Wimbledon ..

If your interested we have just booked centre of the front row of the premier seating for the 12:00 (midday) performance on Friday 6th (Row G 14 & 15) seats available either side lol ..

Suffering brain malfunction.

This is probably due to a total of 9 hours sleep since Thursday Morning.

Absolutely great time and managed to break the losing by one point curse in both the pub and music quiz.

Many thanks to great bar company till 5am for the the last four nights for those that joined the insanity and generaly geeky conversations that generally seem to happen in the Redemption bar once most people have gone to bed and cause me to find myself being unable to leave. Even Little Miss Jane managed to stay up well past her bedtime on at least two nights :)

Still not sure how Dexter ended up running for ruler of the Universe, but I think he enjoyed it - even if he did ham up his death scene ....

Many thanks as ever to the Con Com - You continue to out do yourselves ...

3x14 & 3x15 ....

Cracking return to form ... Dark and Moody, gripping stuff.

This is what Heroes should be like ..

A nice opening and paced well, if a little slow.

Still has a nagging Alias crossed with Joe 90  feel to it but that may not be a bad thing.

There's a setting up of back story that could have been more to the forefront - but this is Joss we are talking about ...

I give it an 8 ...

Well ...

If nothing else I want to see it just to see Gwen do the John Woo style twin automatics dive out of the back of the Ambulance.

So ... London Transports response to the Highways agency telling everyone to leave their car at home and take the Bus?

Cancel all the buses (and most tubes)

I mean ?? What ??

Sorry - But people have to work. Thats just bollocks.

*ETA* I've done the drive from Aylesbury to Oxford as usual this morning, No delays and once again it odd to watch the snow diminish as I do the drive - Oxford has half the snow we have in Aylesbury.
